…make the web work for you
The Internet Sales Funnel – Don't Jump the Gun in the Lead Generation Process
Online Lead Generation should invariably be your business’ most sensible strategy for obtaining new clients.
The situation whereby you know your product and you know your potential buyer/client… separated by a few clicks of the mouse should sound appetising enough for any Marketing or Business Development Manager.
So why are so few businesses taking advantage of the opportunities available?
Online Lead Generation is not only relevant to a service based company such as an accountancy, IFA or legal firm, but also in the case of an online retailer. Just the other day I was speaking with one of our clients regarding the % of customers who simply leave a website just as simply as they enter. What can be done to capture that persons attention?
Well, we already know their motive for visiting your site… this can be found in your site analytics – the keywords from Google, the forum they found you through or the adword you purchased. At the end of the day, you’ve exerted time and probably money (your marketing budget!) in order to attract that visitor, so why simply let them leave without a trace?
Online Lead Generation can morph into a variety of different methods. Opportunities are available through adding a simple monthly competition to your site. Give your site visitors the opportunity to win a relevant and attractive prize and they will give you the opportunity to market back to them. For the large part most retail sites see 95 – 98 vistors out of 100 disappear without a trace. Give them a reason to stay and to share!
If you work in a niche industry where your audience is relatively limited why not offer a monthly industry report or information that may be valuable to your visitors? In return, they will provide their email address to attain such information. In simply terms, 3 visitors a day requesting information offers you 100 potential new clients on a monthly basis. Now multiply that number 10 fold? It starts to look interesting doesn’t it?
You’ve probably spent a considerable amount of your online marketing budget to attract new customers through what are now perceived as the traditional methods of online marketing, email, PPC, SEO and Affiliate Marketing?
You’ve bought your site visitors… now get as much from them as you need! Your message has to stand out… and so does your incentive. Entice your visitors with snippets of information you know they will find of interest. Visit any popular band website, you can hear clips of their latest songs… to entice you to buy the album. Transpose this view to your own business. What can you give your potential customers to ENGAGE them?
